Trauma is ANYTHING that overwhelms your nervous system and causes you to disconnect from your emotions, prevents you from speaking up for yourself, or fragments your memory. When we experience trauma, it stays within the body- and attempting to heal without learning ways to resource yourself or self-soothe can be utterly exhausting.
